1. Introduction

TalentedIntern ("we", "our", or "us") is based in Minnesota and is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy outlines how we handle your data in compliance with the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act (MCDPA) and other applicable U.S. laws.

2. Data We Collect

In addition to standard identity and contact information, we collect data specific to our platform’s mission:

  • Professional Data: Resumes, portfolios, education history, and skills.
  • Employment Data: Salary expectations or (for employers) good-faith salary ranges as required by MN Stat. § 181.173.
  • Profiling Data: We may use automated processing to help match interns with relevant job listings based on skills and preferences.

3. How We Use Your Data

We process your data to:

  • Connect interns with potential employers.
  • Comply with Minnesota’s pay transparency laws.
  • Improve our matching algorithms (profiling).

Note: We do not sell your personal data to third parties for money; however, sharing your profile with a potential employer is a core function of our service.

4. Minnesota Privacy Rights

As a Minnesota resident, the MCDPA grants you the following specific rights:

  • Right to Access & Portability: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you in a usable format.
  • Right to Delete: You may request that we delete your account and all associated personal data.
  • Right to Correct: You can update any inaccurate information on your profile at any time.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Profiling: You have the right to opt-out of automated decision-making that has "legal or similarly significant effects."
  • Right to Question Profiling: If a matching algorithm impacts your opportunities, you have the right to ask for the reasoning behind the decision.

5. Data Security & Retention

We maintain reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your data. We retain your personal data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services. If an account is inactive for more than 24 months, we may de-identify or delete your data.

6. Transparency in Employment (MN Specific)

Per Minnesota law, we do not prompt for or require "Salary History" from applicants. We encourage all employers using our platform to provide "Good Faith Salary Ranges" in compliance with state transparency mandates.
